Diagnosing Diabetes Mellitus
One of three criteria must be present in order to establish a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus:
- random plasma glucose concentration greater than or equal to 200 mg/dL
- plasma glucose concentration greater than or equal to 200 mg/dL 2 hours after ingesting 75g of glucose
- fasting plasma glucose concentration greater than or equal to 140 mg/dL
